Got a Coach

I'm getting weekly coaching to hold me to account for making progress on my goals which of course include the relaunch of Being.

This month's goals and objectives:

Being Magazine

Migrate site to Joomla 1.5x and redesign

Post new articles

Complete business plan (start writing one section per week)

The game plan is:

  1. Write new business plan
  2. Pitch it in a compelling video on a website to solicit investors to buy shares of Being as a publicly held company
  3. Relaunch Being Magazine as a regional lifestyle publication

I have promised to write one section of the plan starting Dec 1.

So I'm in yet another 10-session seminar. Living Powerfully: A Life that Defies the Predictable. And what seems to be underneath every thing I am working on is Being.

This time we're cleaning up messes and restoring integrity so I finally sent out letters to all of the Being Magazine subscribers offering a full refund and officially announcing that I am not publishing in print.

So far I have two requests for refunds.

I am looking at what my life would look like if I spent a little time each day on Being Magazine.

I have discovered OneNote and purchased my own personal laptop which is quickly becoming the center of my universe. I can publish from OneNote to a blog in a nanosecond.

Success Seminar and Being

Well, the primary focus for me has been trying to keep the Hollywood Gazette afloat in this economy. I knew it was going to be a little rough, but I could not have anticipated how beaten up we have been.

I have done my best and I am exhausted most of the time, no good to anyone -- especially no good for planning a relaunch.

Fooie.

So I am launching the Davie Digest this month instead.

There are a couple of flickers of light for Being though. i had a neat conversation with Khon Tuy's cousin in session 9 of the success seminar.

I also recommended it be the marketing vehicle for Landmark Education in an email to Ina Lee but she never got the email -- at least I mentioned it. :)

I heard that it was mentioned on ugly Betty but that has yet to be confirmed. Brings up the trademark issue again for me.

Success Semimar began 11/10/08

"Keep your plans in sand and your goals in concrete."

Boy does that ring true for creating this publication. When will I relaunch? Who knows? Just thinking about that question gets me frustrated. So frustrated by the failure of the first glorious, soaring, crashing and burning attempt that ended in the spring of 2006 with the last printed issue after a two and a half year roller coaster ride. . . and frustrated because I have no idea HOW this will be the world's leading transformational publication, just KNOW that it will. Like a kid on Christmas Eve who can make out the unmistakable shape of the new bike but has to wait til the morning to ride it. Every day is a little bit like that for me.

I know that the key to success and to failure lies in me. And so all I can do is continue to seek out in the limitations in myself that supress the greatness of the intention of this magazine.

Am currently in the Landmark Education Success Seminar. 10 sessions in Dania, Florida. I started this blog again because I suspect that a lot of what I get out of this seminar will be relative to Being Magazine and want to share the progress along the way.

Creating an organization to manage and execute the initiatives of Being Magazine distinct from me as a person is what I am now focused on.

I will serve as a consultant / CEO to the organzation and ultimately be accountable for its success.

You get what you measure. So what do I want?

To transform the media to a source of empowerment and inspiration. That's the game.

How do you measure the success of the game?

1. People are inspired to make a positive difference in their families, communities, and globally.

2. People are empowered to choose new ways of being that leave them enlivened and inspired.

3. Our publications are shared with others and the content is spread by our readers such that a new agreement for love, trust and peace is created by the media.

4. Our readers create the content and inform us of the difference it made for them.
